Black Swan-Makeup Inspiration

Keeping in mind the previous lace design, I was also very inspired with the black swan make up.  This is because the design that is done on the eyes is similar to the image that had the pattern over the eyes.

Another thing that really inspired me was the story behind the make up of the black swan. As the innocent white swan starts to fight with her inner self due to the insecurities of an opponent with better qualities, the black swan in her then comes out which is her darker side. As she was the innocent swan she just had a white base and red lips.

However when she started falling apart with herself then kicked in the black eyes and the amazing design. This went with her darker personality and made her look kind of evil and frustrated as to why she is not the best anymore. 

I strongly felt that this story relates to that of Lettice. The fact that Lettice is proud of her beauty and has a luxurious life as she is the queen's maid of honor. However, when her secret is revealed everything starts to fall out of place and as a result she got Elizabeth's hatred and was banished from court.

To me, the use of the dark color and the shape of the eye make up looks evil. As if the character was frustrated from life and doesn't care about anybody else anymore. I like the look with black and red but it almost looks a little Gothic to me. I do not want to base my final design around a dramatic Gothic look as I want it to look a little royal relating back to Lettice's beauty and luxuries, however have a dark look at the same time to represent her secretive slyness.

I was really excited to create a face chart of this design as I wanted to see the finished outcome o this look. I was pleased with the how this look appears. However, while creating it I faced a couple of difficulties which put me down from it.

Making sure the eye design is symmetrical on both sides was the biggest difficulty for me and it still doesn't look that even to me, on both sides. Also it is very time consuming which might be a problem considering this design for my final timed assessment.

I also though that just doing this design on its own will not really be my design as I want my design to look unique. If I just created this design it would just be another recreation of the black swan make-up.

However, I do like the shape going over the eyes and I will see how I can incorporate it into my final design.
