  • This is Sophie's final design that I will be doing on her during our timed assessment.
  • Looking at her design my first thoughts were that I have to get the white line that goes across her face straight.
  • This was my first trial of creating her look and Sophie and I met at my flat for practicing our looks.
  • Sophie wanted the base to match her skin color so for the assessment I will use foundation as the base.
  • For this trial I used concealer to hide redness and blemishes on her skin and I set this using loose powder.
  • Next I used an angled brush and lightly drew the white line across her forehead using white supra color.
  • I then made this more bold when I thought the line is pretty much straight.
  • I applied the white color downwards till the bottom of her eyes and half way over the nose as well.
  • Sophie wanted the white to look more blended and faded towards the bottom. To do this I used a fluffy brush to blend the white to give it a more softer look at the bottom.
  • I then applied white just along the bottom of the eyebrow and not on the whole lid as there would be eye shadow going over the lids.
  • I then set the white strip with loose powder so that it wouldn't move around and the bottom of the eyes wouldn't crease.
  • On the lids I used pink eye shadow from the krayolin shadow palette and applied this over the lids.
  • I also took this color under the eyes as shown in the picture above.
  • I placed a darker shade of pink in the outer corners of the lids.
  • Sophie wanted me to drag the eyes out using shades of purple.
  • I placed a darker shade of purple on the outer corners and dragged the eye makeup outwards and slightly upwards.
  • I also took the purple into the crease ever so slightly.
  • For the lashes I used white supra color to paint them white and did this using a disposable mascara wand.
  • In the face chart the design had very bold brown brows, however Sophie wanted me to try covering the brows with gold to see what effect it gives.
  • I used the illamasqua liquid metal palette for this and used the gold pigment.
  • Using a disposable mascara wand I covered the brows with gold brushing through the hairs.
  • For the cheeks Sophie wanted heavy contouring. She also wanted it to be gold.To do this I used the gold liquid metal and placed it over her cheek bones.
  • I then blended it i using a kabuki brush.
  • The picture shows both the left and right side of the contouring.
  • Sophie preferred the contouring in the picture on the right hand side as it was just on the cheek bone as on the picture on the left it is slightly over the cheek bone and it has come way to down on the cheek which sort of gives an aging effect that we definitely don't want.
  • For the lips I used the dark red color from the lip palette and applied this using an angled brush.
  • I then placed black supra color on the outer corners of the lips and blended this inwards.
  • As this was my first trial of the design, Sophie was quite pleased with the outcome. However, we both agree that there are some things that I need to practice more to get them right for the timed assessment. For the eyes Sophie wants me to use less product next time and blend more to give a smokey eye effect. She also wants me to put less black supra color on the outer corners of the mouth and blend more, so that the red still shows through the lips.
  • Looking at the finished result I also felt like I had to improve some things for Sophie's design to look the she wants it to. I need to work on getting that white line straight. For the next practice session I will try using a stencil to see if that helps. I also need to make sure the eye make up is symmetrical on both sides as this will be easily noticeable on the final pictures. Looking at the contouring  I need to make sure the placement is right on both sides. As Sophie said I do need to work on using less product and blending them
  • For a first trial I was pleased with what I did, although I need to work on the details I mentioned above.
