Induction week had lots of activities, master classes, lectures and some challenges. I particularly enjoyed doing the black and white photo challenge, talking our peers through our mood boards and our future goals, I enjoyed the Krayolin and Illamasqua master class from which I learned a lot and the head in a box challenge.
Black and White Photo Challenge
I really enjoyed this challenge because it gave me an opportunity to express my thoughts and emotions through photographs. As I was new to Southampton it also gave me chance to get to know the city a little better as this will be my new home.
This is the little bridge that goes across the high street next to West Quays shopping center. The architecture of the bridge really caught my eye. It had a rusty yet beautiful look. I would interpret this picture as steps leading into a whole new world of make-up.

From the other side of the bridge I took this picture of the scenery around the bridge and the sky. The picture was not very clear however, I though it was a beautiful picture. It is not very clear to see but there was some construction work going on in the left hand corner of the image. I felt as if this construction work was the beginning of creating an amazing future. Looking at the sky I remembered the quote,"the sky is the limit". If I put in all my hard work I can achieve my dreams and anything is possible.

I took this picture of the water fountain in the park next to university. I mainly focused on the water, stones and pebbles. I took this image from this angle because it looks like even though they are just stones, the water falling onto them gives them life. Looking at the two previous images, this one is the my most favorite. This is as I felt like this image says that no matter what we are in life always be down to earth.
Summer Project Mood Board
We were given a project to do over summer holidays ready for the induction week. The title of this project was, "If I could I would". We had to create a mood board of what we see ourselves in five years time. What we would want to be and whom we would want to work with.
This was the mood board I created for the summer project. In five years time....
I would like to be working around the world as travelling is my passion and what better way to do it by working at the same time. There are so many artist that inspire me with their brilliant work but some of my most favorite are mentioned on the mood board. I would love to work with artists like Rick Baker, Andrew Gallimore, Val Garland, Pat McGrath Alex Box and many more.
During the Induction week we had to talk to our peers about our mood boards. I found the task a little challenging as I had to talk to other people about my future goals and I was a little scared about whether they would be realistic or not. However, when we all got talking I realized that we all pretty much had similar goals to where we would like to be in five years time. This really pushed me out of my comfort zone but I am glad we did this challenge because it will help me build my confidence as I go along.
Head in a Box Challenge
I found this activity the most challenging out of all of them. This is because I had to think on the spot about what to create as my head on the box. In the future working as make-up artist I will probably have to think on the spot quite often. As Halloween was round the corner I attempted in drawing on a sugar skull. However, I couldn't complete my bag as I ran out of time as I spent a lot of time thinking what to do. I was not happy with the end result of my bag because I could have done a lot better. This task really got me up on my toes and kind off prepared me for more activities like these to come during the course and in the future where I would have to plan or think of something on the spot.
